Are parents entitled to object to a couple's decision to divorce, and is it obligatory to obey them in this regard?

The default ruling on divorce is prohibition due to the negative consequences that result from it, especially when children are involved. Ibn Qudamah explicitly stated that divorce is disliked without need, and Al-Qadi went further to consider it forbidden. Therefore, effort should be made towards reconciliation and understanding between the spouses. If reconciliation is achieved, it combines your interest with the interest of pleasing your parents. However, if the interest in divorce outweighs other considerations, there is no blame upon you, and your family does not have the right to object to you. You are not obligated to obey them in this matter, because obedience to parents is only obligatory in matters that benefit them and do not harm the child.
