What is the ruling on listening to "pure" music that is free of indecency or human voice for someone who adheres to acts of worship, calls to Islam, finds it a means of self-reflection, and believes that prohibiting all types of music makes Islam a "backward religion"?

Music is forbidden in Islam according to the majority of scholars, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: «There will be among my Ummah people who will consider unlawful sexual intercourse, silk, wine, and musical instruments as lawful». Accusing Islam of backwardness because of forbidding music is incorrect, for Allah's religion does not follow anyone's desires. Allah Almighty has made the Noble Qur'an, listening to permissible nasheeds, and the sounds of nature an alternative to music. So be keen on fearing Allah, seeking Islamic knowledge, reciting the Qur'an, and supplicating for the rectification of your condition and heart.
