Is the reason for the Muslims' backwardness their adherence to their religion, based on the specious argument that the West advanced when they abandoned all religions?

This statement comes from someone weak in faith and ignorant of history. The Islamic Ummah was strong and mighty when it adhered to its religion. The progress of the West does not contradict Islam, which encourages strength and preparedness. All the blessings that disbelievers receive are a trial, a test, and an acceleration of good things [in this life], for in the Hereafter they will be among the losers. There is no glory for Muslims except by returning to their true religion.
