Is a father's refusal to marry his daughter to a young man with Type 1 diabetes, for fear of the disease being passed on to the children or of complications arising later, considered a wrong stance that necessitates reversal, especially given the daughter's acceptance of the young man and his adherence to treatment?

The actions of fathers regarding their children are presumed to be for their betterment and benefit. If a father does not approve of his daughter marrying someone he believes is not suitable for her, due to his weakness, illness, or another valid reason, he is not considered to be preventing her marriage unfairly, especially if he is a righteous person. The daughter is not permitted to go against her father's guardianship and ask a judge or anyone else to marry her. It is stated in Al-Adawi's commentary: "If he (the father) claims he is preventing her marriage for a valid reason, and she claims there is no such reason, then his word is to be accepted, and she is responsible for proving her claim. This applies if he is a righteous person; otherwise, the judge should inquire from the neighbors."
