What is the meaning of "ولا حلم ولا علم" (nor forbearance nor knowledge) mentioned in the Hadith: "Allah Almighty said to Jesus son of Mary: 'I shall send forth after you a nation who, if something they love befalls them, will praise and be grateful, and if something they dislike befalls them, will seek recompense and be patient, nor have they forbearance nor knowledge.' He said: 'O Lord, how can this be, nor have they forbearance nor knowledge?' He said: 'I shall give them of My forbearance and My knowledge'"?

The hadith narrated from Abu Ad-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him): "O Isa! I shall raise after you a nation who, if they are afflicted with what they love, they praise Allah and show gratitude, and if they are afflicted with what they dislike, they seek recompense and show patience. They have neither forbearance nor knowledge." He (Isa) said: "O Lord! How can they have this without forbearance or knowledge?" He (Allah) said: "I shall bestow upon them of My forbearance and My knowledge," is weak due to the unknown status of Yazid ibn Maysara Ad-Dimashqi, one of its narrators.

Assuming its authenticity, the intended meaning is that the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him) shows gratitude in prosperity and patience in adversity, seeking recompense for the sake of Allah, not merely out of forbearance or knowledge devoid of faith. Rather, it is through their sincerity to Allah and their desire for His reward that Allah blesses them with light, forbearance, and knowledge from Him.
