Is it permissible for an elderly woman to uncover her face before men who are not her mahrams?

Allah, the Most High, has permitted elderly women who no longer expect to marry, to uncover their faces before non-mahram men, provided they are not adorned with makeup, such as kohl or similar enhancements for the face, and do not display anything that might cause temptation. The exegetes have clarified that "laying aside their outer garments" refers to laying aside the khimar or jilbab, but the head must remain covered. However, it is disliked for her to do so, and it is better for her not to lay aside her garments, because refraining is better for her, and because some elderly women might still tempt with their beautiful appearance.
