Is it permissible to divorce or seek guidance from Allah (istikharah) regarding divorce in the event that the wife disobeys her husband's commands and he loses trust in her, especially after having previously sought guidance from Allah (istikharah) concerning marrying her? And if divorce is not permissible, is it permissible to abandon the wife to discipline her?

A wife's obedience to her husband is obligatory in matters of marriage and its related aspects. Divorce is not the first solution for a disobedient wife; rather, it is preceded by steps. Divorce is permissible when there is a need for it, and disliked otherwise. If there is a need for divorce, istikharah (seeking guidance from Allah) is legislated for it. Istikharah is not legislated for disliked divorce. It is permissible to abandon a disobedient wife under specific conditions, and the maximum duration for abandonment is one month. It is obligatory to verify any news that reaches the husband about his wife.
