Does divorce occur with the statement, "By God Almighty, if I know that you leave without my permission, then you are thrice divorced," in the event that the wife leaves without the husband's permission?

The conclusion is that suspending the divorce of the wife upon the husband's knowledge of her departure and the wife's informing him of her departure results in divorce according to the majority of jurists. Ibn Taymiyyah, however, held that an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yameen) is due if the husband did not intend divorce. As for triple divorce uttered in a single phrase, it counts as three divorces according to the majority of jurists, and as one according to Ibn Taymiyyah. According to the view of the majority, the wife would have been irrevocably divorced (baynunah kubra), and she would not be lawful for him until she marries another husband, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if he has divorced her [for the third time], then she is not lawful to him afterward until she marries another husband." A wife's departure without her husband's permission is disobedience and defiance (nushuz), and divorce is not the first solution.
