ما حكم قتل الخنزير في الإسلام؟
Eating pork is forbidden by scholarly consensus. As for killing it, the majority of scholars permit its killing, and some even consider it obligatory or recommended. This is based on the fact that it is worse than the noxious animals the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded to kill. It is also based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informing that Jesus, peace be upon him, will kill the swine upon his descent at the end of time, as part of establishing justice and solidifying the law of Islam.
Al-Bukhari titled a chapter in his Sahih "Chapter on Killing the Swine" to indicate its permissibility and because what is commanded to be killed may not be sold. The one who kills a swine is not liable because it is commanded. However, killing the swine of the People of the Book is an exception if they do not display them, or if killing them would lead to a greater harm.
