Masturbation is forbidden by Islamic law and naturally detestable. Whoever engages in it must repent, even if they were ignorant of its prohibition, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "Then, indeed your Lord, to those who committed evil in ignorance and then repented after that and corrected themselves—indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful" (Quran 16:119), and His saying: "And turn to Allah all of you, O believers, that you might succeed" (Quran 24:31). The days during which masturbation was practiced must be made up, along with paying an expiation for delay if another Ramadan begins before the make-up is completed.
