What is the ruling on masturbation in Ramadan?

Masturbation is forbidden, and doing it during the daytime in Ramadan is a greater sin and more reprehensible, due to its violation of the sanctity of the month. Whoever masturbates and ejaculates, their fast is broken, and they must make up that day. There is no expiation required of them according to the majority of scholars. They must repent and seek forgiveness.
