Is it permissible to employ means for the guidance of a person, such that it is said: "Were it not for Allah and then so-and-so, this person would not have been guided," after an admonition that affected him?

Guidance is of two types:

First: Guidance of divine grace (Tawfiq) and inspiration (Ilham), which is exclusive to Allah Almighty, as He says: "Indeed, you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills."

Second: Guidance of direction (Irshad) and clarification (Bayan), which is not exclusive to Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was described with it in His saying: "And indeed, you do guide to a straight path," and the prophets and their followers were also described with it.

Accordingly, there is no harm in saying, "Were it not for Allah, and then for so-and-so, this person would not have been guided," if what is meant is the guidance of direction and clarification.
