What are the characteristics of a disobedient wife, and is it permissible to expel her from the home to discipline her?

A disobedient wife is one who disobeys her husband regarding the rights obligated by marriage, such as refusing intimacy, or leaving the house without his permission, or refusing to move with him. Such a wife is not entitled to maintenance or housing unless she is pregnant. Consequently, it is permissible for the husband to expel her from the house due to the forfeiture of her right to housing, and this is not considered the desertion mentioned in the Quran.
