Imam Al-Qurtubi mentioned two opinions regarding the foundation of the House (Kaaba): The first is that the angels were the first to found it and circumambulate it, and the second is that Adam (peace be upon him) was the first to found it and circumambulate it. Ibn Kathir mentioned that Jibreel commanded Adam to build the Kaaba and circumambulate it, but the reported regarding this is weak.
