Is it permissible to question why the inquirer is not the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and what is the ruling on this question?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The wisdom of Allah necessitated restricting prophethood to men. Women are forbidden from wishing for what Allah has favored men with over them. It is incumbent upon a servant to follow and love the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, but emulating him does not elevate one to the rank of the Companions or the Prophets.

One must engage in acts of obedience, the most important of which are dhikr (remembrance of Allah), reciting the Quran, observing prayers at their earliest times, frequently reading books of encouragement and spiritual edification, and the biographies of the Salaf (pious predecessors). One should also be keen on honoring one's mother and refraining from arguing with her without knowledge.
