Do the Jinn continue to eavesdrop in the present time, with a request for proof?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
Before the advent of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the jinn would eavesdrop on the heavens and then relay what they heard to soothsayers. However, after his advent, Allah protected the heavens from the devils. And whoever attempts to eavesdrop now is struck by meteors to be burned, as stated in Surat Al-Jinn: "And we have sought to reach the heaven and found it filled with powerful guards and meteors. And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him." This protection will continue until the Day of Judgment, ensuring the perpetual invalidation of soothsaying.
