What is the ruling on sitting in a room that contains pictures and statues of animals or of false deities?

It is forbidden to hang and place pictures and statues in homes, and the prohibition is confirmed if they are of deities worshipped besides Allah. There is no explicit Shariah evidence that prohibits entering places where there are pictures and statues, and a number of scholars have stated that it is not forbidden. Nevertheless, the person entering must denounce the evil to the best of their ability, without causing a greater harm, whether by hand, tongue, or heart, and this is an obligation by the consensus of the Ummah. One form of denouncing is boycotting the owners of these places if the boycott leads to the removal of the evil.
