Which takes precedence: abandoning music or maintaining kinship ties? And is it obligatory to attend the wedding of a female relative where there is music, knowing that not attending might lead to anger and estrangement?

Responding to a wedding invitation (walima) is legislated and obligatory according to the majority of scholars. However, if the walima contains any forbidden acts, such as music or other transgressions, then responding becomes prohibited, unless the invited person is capable of changing the forbidden act. Attending a walima that contains forbidden acts is prohibited if the invited person is unable to remove them. And whoever seeks Allah's pleasure through the displeasure of people, Allah will spare him the burden of people.
