What is the authenticity of the narration that states the pre-Islamic greeting "May you be greeted in the evening and may you be greeted in the morning" was changed to "peace" (As-Salam)?

A ruling from scholars regarding the authenticity or weakness of the اثر (narration/report) has not been found. However, it is supported by what is mentioned in Sunan Abi Dawud, Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq, and Shu'ab al-Iman by al-Bayhaqi, on the authority of Imran ibn Husayn, who said: "In the جاهلية (pre-Islamic era of ignorance), we used to say: 'May Allah bless your eye with comfort' and 'May your morning be pleasant.' But when Islam came, we were forbidden from that." Ibn Hajar authenticated the narrators of this اثر but described it as disconnected (منقطع).
