What is the ruling on bringing young children who play and move around in the mosque?

There is no objection to bringing children to the mosque; rather, it is encouraged to accustom them, as long as their presence does not cause disturbance or harm to the worshippers. Mosques were not built for play and amusement, but for prayer and devotion. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to shorten his prayer upon hearing a child crying, which indicates the presence of children in mosques. If a child causes harm, their guardians must prevent them. It is forbidden to bring young children who do not have discernment, except in cases of extreme necessity, such as there being no one to care for them at home, provided they do not harm the worshippers. The people of the mosque are advised to be tolerant of children and cooperate in teaching them the etiquette of the mosque, as a mere sound or movement is not considered a justification for prohibition unless the harm escalates.
