Is the soldier who is killed in a war against Muslims, while ignorant of the reason for the fighting, destined for Hellfire?

Allah does not punish anyone except those who deserve punishment after the proof has been established against them. So, whoever has not received the call to Islam will be tested on the Day of Judgment. As for whoever has received the call and heard of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, but did not believe in him and died upon that, he will abide eternally in the Fire. The mere hearing of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is sufficient to establish the proof against him, because it obliges him to research the truth of this Messenger. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, linked the entry into the Fire for Jews and Christians to their mere hearing of him. There is no excuse for those who obeyed their leaders in disbelief, such as Pharaoh's soldiers, or those who swelled the ranks of the polytheists.
