The question

Do the symptoms that the young man experienced – such as exhaustion, excessive sleep and nocturnal emissions, aversion to studying and beloved activities, constant sadness, seeing a woman strangling him in a dream, and seeing her crying blood with gouged-out eyes – indicate the presence of a jinn in love, or is it another condition?

The answer

We have no definitive proof of your affliction, but we advise you to dismiss the idea of being afflicted from your mind, as wet dreams are natural for young people. We recommend that you consistently recite the remembrances (adhkar) before sleep, and in the mornings and evenings, especially reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas and the two Mu'awwidhat (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) three times. These serve as protection and sufficiency against all evil. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever says them in the morning and in the evening, three times, they will suffice him from everything," and "Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of Daybreak,' and 'Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind' - people have not sought refuge with anything better than them." And he (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge from the jinn and the evil eye until the two Mu'awwidhat were revealed, whereupon he adopted them and abandoned all else.
