Is it permissible to renew the marriage contract due to doubt concerning its validity?

There is no impediment to re-contracting the marriage as a precautionary measure when in doubt about its validity. However, it appears that the questioner is suffering from obsessive doubts (waswās), so he should not pay attention to these doubts or succumb to them under the pretext of blameworthy precaution. Ibn Taymiyyah said: "If it leads to that, then the precaution is to abandon precaution."
