Is it permissible to give one poor person more than one expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin), and then complete the rest of the expiations with other poor people?
The expiation for an oath is to feed ten poor people, or clothe them, or free a slave. If one cannot find [the means to do so], then one must fast for three days, as Allah Almighty says: "So its expiation is the feeding of ten poor people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. But he who finds not [the means to do so] – then a fast of three days [is expiation]." One must feed ten poor people for each expiation, and it is not sufficient to feed one poor person ten times for a single expiation. If there are multiple expiations, then it is permissible to feed the same poor person ten times, or give him ten meals for ten expiations.
