What should one do if, while listening to the Quran with the intention of entertainment, similar to music, one feels such a sensation? Is it obligatory to stop listening to it?
Listening to the Quran from others is a great good that a Muslim should not deprive himself of, especially during leisure times and from a melodious reciter. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to listen to the recitation of the Companions and said: "Indeed, I love to hear it from others."
There is no harm in refreshing oneself by listening to the Quran if one feels distressed, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to resort to acts of obedience like remembrance (dhikr) and prayer (salat) whenever a matter grieved him. We advise abundant recitation of the Quran, listening to it, and other acts of obedience, for in it lies the dissipation of sorrows and the removal of worries.
