Is it permissible to publish fictional poetry for money?
First: The ruling on poetry is subject to its content. What is good in it is good, and what is bad in it is bad. It is originally permissible unless it includes something forbidden, such as flirtatious poetry about a specific woman or incitement to disobedience, or something recommended, such as the remembrance of Allah and encouraging noble morals.
Second: The ruling on earning a living through poetry: 1. It is forbidden to earn a living through poetry if the poet uses it to terrorize people by satirizing or slandering their honor. 2. It is permissible to earn a living through poetry if it is permissible or recommended, such as poetry found in Islamic etiquette and rulings, just as authored books are sold.
