What is the ruling on shunning my aunt and her children, given that I used to maintain ties with them, but my dignity absolutely prevents me from re-establishing contact due to their aggression, injustice, expulsion from their home, insults, and defamation?

The questioner is advised to be patient with their relatives, not to sever ties with them, and to repay their ill-treatment with kindness. This is due to the immense reward it entails and the help of Allah, as evidenced by the Quranic verses: "The recompense for an evil deed is an evil deed like it. But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is due from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers" (Ash-Shura: 40), and "Good and evil are not equal. Repel evil with that which is best" (Fussilat: 34), and by the Prophetic Hadeeth: "If what you say is true, then you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will continue to have a supporter from Allah against them as long as you remain in that state." Furthermore, it is encouraged to frequently engage in supplication (Du'a) and remembrance (Dhikr), and to maintain prayers (Salat) for protection from injustice and evil.
