Is what is meant by His — Exalted be He — saying: "and grants you a light by which you walk" the Holy Qur’an? And does reciting the Qur’an in times of hardship bestow upon a person a spirit from Allah, like the angels, based on His — Exalted be He — saying: "And thus We have revealed to you a spirit from Our command"?

Scholars have differed in interpreting "light" (نور) mentioned in the verse "and make for you a light by which you walk." Some interpreted it as guidance and faith, others as the light that will precede them on the Day of Resurrection, and still others as the Quran. Undoubtedly, the Quran is both light and guidance. The verse came to encourage piety and faith, not merely the recitation of the Quran. Nevertheless, there is no harm in the reciter asking Allah Almighty, by virtue of the Quran, for whatever he desires concerning worldly and otherworldly matters.
