How can the verse: "Say: 'All is from Allah'" be reconciled with the verse: "Whatever good befalls you is from Allah, and whatever evil befalls you is from yourself"?

The meaning of good deeds (hasanah) and bad deeds (sayyi'ah) being from Allah is that both are predetermined by Allah; that is, they are known and recorded in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz), created, and willed by Allah.

As for good deeds being from Allah and bad deeds being from yourself, its meaning is that a good deed is a grace from Allah, and a bad deed is due to a person's disobedience.
