What is the ruling on borrowing from banks when there are essential financial obligations and no other alternative or assistance from relatives is available?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

There are two types of banks: Islamic banks, which strive to adhere to Sharia regulations, and there is no harm in dealing with them in financing, such as Tawarruq (monetization). The other type is usurious banks, and it is not permissible to deal with them, even in permissible transactions, except out of a recognized necessity. It is forbidden to borrow from them with interest, based on the Almighty's saying: "O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers," and based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Allah has cursed the one who consumes Riba (usury), the one who pays it, and the two witnesses to it."
