What is the ruling on receiving a monthly salary from a secular, irreligious party after regretting a previous affiliation with it?

The salary received by a member of a secular party is a wage for a forbidden benefit, as it is earned through their loyalty and support for the party's principles. It is forbidden for a Muslim to show allegiance to secularism and its adherents or to join its parties. However, if this party heads the state and controls the Muslims' funds, and these funds are indeed the Muslims' money, then whoever can obtain their right from it may do so. If they have no right in it, they should disburse it to those who are entitled to it and not return it to the party. One can find support in Al-Ghazali's statement permitting the taking from the public treasury if the ruler does not fully disburse rights.
