What is the meaning of the Hadith: "There will be people in this nation who transgress in purification and supplication"?

"Israf" (extravagance or excess) is exceeding the limit. Israf in water is Islamically forbidden by consensus, and it occurs by exceeding three scoops or by excessive washing. As for "I'tida" (transgression or overstepping) in supplication (Du'a), it is exceeding the limit in it, such as supplicating for something that is not permissible, or raising one's voice excessively, or asking for the ranks of the prophets, or being overly elaborate in rhymed prose. The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned against people who transgress in purification (Tahara) and supplication, and he commanded asking Allah for Paradise and seeking refuge with Him from the Hellfire without going into excessive detail. The Islamic religion came with balance and moderation in everything.
