1-Peace be upon you. How can I be pious?

Piety (Taqwa) is for a person to create a shield between himself and God's punishment by performing what is commanded and abstaining from what is forbidden. Everyone who does what God has commanded him and refrains from what He has prohibited has indeed shown piety towards his Lord. People vary in their piety according to their adherence to this. The more a person's faith increases, the more his piety increases, and the more his faith weakens, the more his piety weakens. Faith increases with acts of obedience and decreases with acts of disobedience.
