Is it considered an innovation (bid‘ah) for women and neighbors to gather monthly to collect money and donate it to orphans and the poor?

Collecting money for orphans and the poor is not an innovation (bid'ah); rather, it is an act of charity and cooperation in righteousness, which is commanded by Islamic law, as Allah Almighty says: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." One should be keen to do so because it is an act of worship for which its doer will be rewarded.
