Is a wife considered divorced if she goes to her job after her husband said to her: "If you go to work, you are divorced from me"?

A wife must obey her husband and not leave the house without his permission. If the husband utters, "Okay, go to your family," intending divorce, then a divorce has occurred. If he made her divorce conditional upon her going out to work, then according to our fatwa, if she goes out to work, another divorce occurs. Some scholars, like Ibn Taymiyyah, hold that if the husband did not intend to effect a divorce but rather intended to threaten, then no divorce occurs, and he must offer an expiation for breaking an oath. One should avoid threatening with divorce and instead use the lawful means of reconciliation, such as admonition, abstention from intimacy, and non-violent striking. Divorce should only occur after all means of reconciliation have been exhausted.
