Why does the Mujahid (one who strives) in the path of Allah Almighty have the highest ranks in Paradise?

The texts indicate the virtue of jihad and the elevated status of the mujahid. The reason for this is that he sells himself to Allah and expends it to make His word supreme and to spread His religion. Thus, Allah Almighty honors him and raises his rank. The act of jihad combines patience, reliance on Allah, altruism, self-sacrifice, love for meeting Allah, and supporting His religion. This is a favor from Allah Almighty, specific to jihad. The preference given to jihad is due to its alignment with divine decree, its being a difficult act that demonstrates sincerity in faith, its resemblance to angels, the fact that its reward is realized in the form of the action itself, and by it the community is perfected and the religion is elevated.
