Is interpreting dreams permissible or forbidden according to religious scholars?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Interpretation of dreams (visions) is permissible for those whom Allah inspires with their interpretation and who adhere to the Sharia guidelines. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, approved Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq's interpretation of some visions. Visions are of three types: a righteous vision, which is good tidings from Allah and is interpreted by specialized scholars; a distressing vision from Satan, which should not be spoken of or interpreted; and a vision of what one talks to oneself about, which is not a true vision.
