Parents must be honored during their lives and after their deaths. Honoring the father after his death is done by supplicating for him, seeking forgiveness for him, honoring his friends, and maintaining kinship ties. Honoring the mother during her lifetime is an opportunity to enter Paradise.

Siblings should compete in honoring their mother and showing kindness to her. The pursuit of livelihood does not prevent honoring her; one can visit her or she can travel to her children. They must serve her or provide her with a maid, and her expenses are obligatory upon them. They must maintain contact with her and check on her well-being.
