Have I committed one of the seven heinous sins by what I have done, and how can I repent and seek forgiveness, given that I was unaware of it?

Magic is forbidden and is one of the gravest major sins and one of the seven destructive sins, as stated in the noble Hadith. Practicing magic is unanimously haram (forbidden), and it may constitute kufr (disbelief) if it involves words or actions that necessitate disbelief. It is forbidden to go to magicians or to ask them for magic. Repentance, seeking forgiveness, and resolving not to return to it are obligatory. "Whoever comes to a fortuneteller or a magician and believes him, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad." If a girl is bewitched, one must search for the magic to destroy it. If this is not possible, the girl or her family should be advised to perform Ruqyah (Islamic incantation) without informing them of what happened. Furthermore, the girl must be released from the effects of magic by showing kindness to her and seeking general forgiveness, while observing the Sharia (Islamic law) guidelines.
