Does divorce that occurred electronically, without the husband uttering the words, count as a valid divorce?

The wife's knowledge is not a prerequisite for divorce. Whenever the husband pronounces or writes the divorce, it is considered a valid and effective divorce, even if the wife is unaware of it. If the husband completes the divorce procedures with a lawyer, the divorce is valid and effective. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen said: "Divorce takes effect even if the wife is not informed. So, if a person pronounces divorce and says: 'I have divorced my wife,' the wife is divorced, whether she knows about it or not."
