Congregational prayer has great merit and is an obligation upon individuals, and Allah has commanded it even in the most difficult circumstances. Attending mosques has great virtue and status, and God has testified to their construction. A group of scholars have agreed on the obligation of attending congregation in the mosque, although some see its validity at home. Whoever prays at home in congregation denies themselves the virtue of the mosques, and whoever prays alone is sinful according to the predominant opinion. One can encourage a husband to attend congregation in the mosques through gentle admonition and indirect means such as tapes and brochures, along with praying for guidance for him.
