What is the ruling on congregational and Friday prayers in "Zawaya" (mosques beneath houses)? Is praying in them better if going to the main mosques would result in missing the opening Takbir or the congregation? Does the verse (In houses which Allah has permitted to be raised) indicate that there should be nothing above the mosque? Does the ruling differ if these Zawaya are in workplaces and the call to prayer is not made for some of the prayers?

Congregational prayer in a small mosque is sufficient, and the reward for prayer is greater in the farther mosque with a larger congregation. It is permissible to establish Friday prayer in small mosques when there is a need.

Catching the opening takbir with the Imam in a small mosque is better than going to a larger mosque and missing part of the prayer, because the virtue related to the essence of the worship takes precedence over the virtue related to its location.

Performing prayer in a small mosque with the first congregation is more preferable than performing it in a larger mosque with a second congregation.

The elevation of mosques mentioned in the Quran includes their construction, cleaning, and purification from impurities and everything unfitting in terms of words and deeds. It does not mean the absence of a building higher than them.

Prayer areas in workplaces that have not been designated as waqf for that purpose and where the call to prayer (adhan) is not made for the five daily prayers do not take the rulings of mosques. However, congregational prayer performed there is sufficient, and the worshipper receives the reward for congregational prayer.
