Is one who made a covenant with Allah to abandon masturbation, then returned to it after four months, considered among the hypocrites, and what should he do to repent?

Masturbation is forbidden by Islamic law, based on the Almighty's saying: (And those who guard their private parts Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors). Imam Al-Shafi'i used this verse as proof for the prohibition of masturbation. Repentance from sin is accepted if its conditions are met: ceasing the act, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. To avoid sin, adhere to obedience to Allah and associate with the righteous, and remember that Allah is observing you. The verse mentioned in the question: (Is it that whenever they made a covenant, a party of them threw it away? Nay!
