What is the garment dyed with safflower (or yellow/red dye), and what is the ruling on praying in it and wearing it?

The saffron-dyed garment is one colored with safflower—a plant that dyes red. Wearing it is permissible for women but forbidden for men. Imam Muslim narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw two saffron-dyed garments on Abdullah ibn Amr and asked, "Did your mother command you with this?" He replied, "Should I wash them?" The Prophet said, "No, burn them." The meaning of his statement, "Did your mother command you with this?" is that it is women's attire, and he commanded them to be burned as a punishment and deterrent. As for praying in a garment whose wearing is forbidden, the prayer is valid, even if the wearer is disobedient.
