What is meant by the "mu'asfar" (saffron-dyed) garment in the Hadith, and is it permissible to wear garments dyed with plant-based or sugary dyes, or is there evidence of their dislike?

The basic principle regarding clothing is permissibility. Anyone who claims that a certain type or color is forbidden must provide evidence for that claim. Scholars have differed concerning the ruling on men wearing pure red, or garments dyed with safflower or saffron. The prohibition of wearing garments dyed with safflower or saffron for men is a matter of dispute, with opinions ranging from prohibition to disfavor (karahah) to permissibility. The preponderant opinion is that they are forbidden. As for other colors, such as plant-based colors (nabati) and off-white (sukkarī), they are permissible for men by consensus, as long as they are not dyed with safflower or saffron. It is permissible for women to wear all colors, provided it does not involve ostentatious display (tabarruj).
