Is it permissible for me to refuse divorcing my wife, who prevents my son from visiting his grandmother, claiming the grandmother has practiced sorcery, and who threatens divorce or Khul' if I do not comply with her demands?

Accusing someone of sorcery is impermissible without clear proof or confession; otherwise, it constitutes one of the major sins. If the wife has circumstantial evidence (Qarā'in) of the husband's mother practicing sorcery, there is no harm in her taking precautions for herself and avoiding close contact with her, provided she does not definitively assert that it is sorcery. She is not obligated to maintain ties with her. As for the children, their relationship with their grandmother should not be severed. Protection from sorcery is achieved through the Quran and remembrances (Adhkār). It is advisable to be gentle with the wife and engage in dialogue to reach a solution that preserves kinship ties and brings peace to the family.
