What is the meaning of "O Allah, we seek refuge in You from the intensity of tribulation and the lowest depths of misery"?

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge from the severity of trials (جهد البلاء), which is a state where a person wishes for death due to its intensity, and from the depths of misery (درك الشقاء), which refers to ruin or the consequences that befall a person leading to misery.
