Is the intention behind the noble verse: "And if you wish to replace a wife in place of another wife," the continuity of replacement, meaning that a man marries and then replaces her with another, and so on, such that he has one permanent wife and three variable ones? What is the ruling on one who does that? And what is the ruling on one who adopts the appearance of the committed while deceiving others?

The aforementioned verse does not address the continuity or repetition of replacement, whether in the affirmative or negative. The ruling on repeating divorce and marriage without a legitimate Shar'i justification is known from other evidence. However, if it is for reasons considered legitimate by the Shari'a, then there is no harm. Deceiving and misleading people is forbidden, and its ugliness is compounded when committed by those who claim to be religious. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever deceives us is not of us," and Anas ibn Malik said: "There is no faith for one who has no trustworthiness, and no religion for one who has no commitment."
