What are the conditions for marrying a woman of the People of the Book, and is she obligated to wear the hijab if she remains in her religion?

The imams differed regarding the conditions for the permissibility of marrying a Kitābīyah (a woman from the People of the Book). Some stipulated that she must be from the Children of Israel and be chaste, not an adulteress, while the majority of scholars only stipulate her chastity. A group of companions married Christian women, while Ibn Umar and Umar forbade it. Chastity (ihsan) implies that she should not display herself in the manner of dissolute people.
