How can I make sincere repentance and avoid returning to sins, such as drinking alcohol and illicit relationships, after having abandoned some of them, and what should I do to expiate the usurious loan I took?
The questioner must make a sincere repentance (Tawbah Nasuh) for the major sins he has committed, such as indecency, drinking alcohol, and consuming usury. He must resolve not to return to them and feel remorse for them.
To help him remain steadfast in his repentance, he should recall the greatness of Allah and the severity of His punishment, remember death and the Hereafter, and know that even if sin is pleasurable at its beginning, its consequences are dire.
He should also increase his good deeds, supplicate, and associate with righteous companions.
As for the usurious loan, if he can repay it early to reduce the interest paid, he should do so. If he cannot, or if he has already finished repaying it, he must increase his repentance, seek forgiveness, and perform expiating good deeds.
